Okinawa Public Theatre (PC Project)

The Okinawan public theatre is the sixth national theatre in Japan and was built specifically as an art centre facility to preserve and promote the traditional Okinawan dance and narrative musical performance called "Kumi Odori", which is one of the Japanese intangible cultural heritage. Because the theatre area is located next to the Naha airport nearby the sea with high humidity, a structural property with high salt resistance and durability is required for the theatre building. Furthermore, the specification required high seating capacity with spacious lobby and stage roof support along with a unique and distinctive exterior wall design. In order to meet these prerequisites, our PCaPC material was chosen and adopted for this project. The outer wall made from the PCa material has an elegant white design with continuous diagonal grids pattern that decoratively run along the building exterior. On this particular project, our PCaPC material served not only as a mere building material, but also as an inspiring and classy design material.
