Katano Elevated Bridge on the 2nd Keihan Highway

PC Technology Association Award for Construction Technology 2010

Katano elevated bridge, which is part of the 2nd Keihan highway is located in Katano city, Osaka and have a total length of 1508m. The bridge itself is constructed out of continuous PC box girder. The precast segment was manufactured in our factory and assembled through span by span method. As a matter of fact, a ruin site was discovered during the project investigation for the substructure, which cause significant delay to the already tight schedule at the time. However, by implementing the side installation for the false work and scaffolding support of the girder the segment installation, the construction period was somehow shortened by 4 months and the bridge project was finally delivered on time on 2009.
